Sherry and Cj have crossed off another week and a month on the countdown to December 28th. The anticipation of starting a simpler life in Zancudo consumes our thoughts daily as we chant our mantra, "Do We Need To Take This?...... or Do We Need That?..... and Will It Fit In The Suitcase". We too have lived with excess......and now gaze upon our boxed up treasures that wait to be displayed at the next yard sale.....Did we really need 3 Mexican Chip and Dip sets.... Ay-Yi-Yi! Our list of necessities that we are planning to take with us has exceeded the space available in the 4 suitcases.......we said a simpler life. Simple is a good concept, but hard for us Americans.
A quick trip to the market for "Grey Poupon".......Not happening amigos!
How will we get our yummy Asiago Cheese? Oh, we'll ask our neighbors when they swing through.

Diamond in the Rough...literally
2 bedrooms, 2 baths, open floor plan, 1. 5 acres, jungle setting, just steps from the Golfo Dulce. Property comes with banana, mango, lemon, lime and apple trees along with pineapples. Property residents includes, but are not limited to; White-faced Capuchin, Spider, Red-backed Squirrel and Howler monkeys, Three-Toed Sloths, Agouti, Vampire Bats, Green Iguana, Ctenosaur, and Basilisk(aka Jesus Christ lizard). Snakes include the Eyelash Viper, Fer-de-Lance, Coral and my favorite the Boa Constrictor. Friendlier inhabitants include the Blue Morpho Butterfly along with the Scarlet Macaws and all the beautiful feathered birds of Central America. Forgot to mention the American Crocodiles and the elusive Jaguar. Should make for interesting neighbors. Home is unfurnieshed but comes with running hot/cold water and electric.
Today is the day, to launch our blog!
This is Sherry & Cjs' first blog, kind of nervous, but with all things new we should get the hang of it and have an interesting blog. We started this blog mainly as a way for our friends and family to follow our new life in Zancudo, Costa Rica starting December 29th of this year.
Just a little background on......WHY are we moving there! Our first visit to Costa Rica was in December of 2008, we knew we needed to see more. In January of 2010 we spent 21 days traveling through a most amazing country and on our 3rd day we traveled to a destination Sherry had selected, "Playa Zancudo" which translates to "Mosquito Beach"..........ouch! We had only planned to stay for one night......which turned into 4 nights, and then we really did not want to leave, but sadly we said our good-byes and continued exploring the rest of the country. Playa Zancudo was a very special place.....we felt it in our hearts and for the rest of our journey, Playa Zancudo had burrowed into our souls. Once back in the states, plans had already been laid to return in 2011, this time for a month. On our return this past January, we had hardly settled in, just 4 days and we found our home, neglected and vacant except for the bats, termites, scorpions and snakes in the overgrown jungle, just steps from the most amazing beach and view of the Osa Peninsula. In the company of our Tico and Gringo friends we knew we had found our paradise, and again before we boarded the plane heading home to the states, plans had already been laid for our return, only this time, Playa Zancudo would become our home by the end of the year.
We have named our Zancudo home, "Casa Sencillo Paraiso" which means, "Simple Paradise" and have started the count down for the start of our new life in a simple paradise. Come along on our journey.
